AUGUST DEVAURS
Recitation of the rosary will be Friday at 7 pm at the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home for August Devaurs, 84, who died Wednesday at a Merced hospital.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 am in the Mission Chapel with Catholic Churches of Merced in charge. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr Devaurs was born Feb 7, 1898 in Merced and was a lifetime resident of the area. He attended local schools and started the Troy Laundry in 1919 in partnership with Gus Hondeville. He operated the business until it closed in 1971.
He was a former member of Merced Elks Lodge 1240.
Survivors include three sons, Donald A., J. [John] Stanley and Robert F., all of Merced, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
