Anna Waneta Kittle, 86, of Gibbs, Missouri, passed away Sunday evening (October 21, 2001) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville where she had resided for the past five years.
Born March 7, 1915, near La Plata, Missouri, she was the daughter of Lewis A. and Lillie Medler Nihiser. On September 4, 1934 she was united in marriage to Lewis D. Knotts. On November 7, 1948, she married Jesse V. Kittle, who preceded her in death on June 17, 1997.
Waneta was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, E. C. Jones, three sistewrs, Grace Cribb, Faye Mitchell and Fern Sheler and one brother, Guy Nihiser.
Surviving are four children, Marlene Knotts Jones of Springfield, MO, Gary R. Knotts Sr. and wife Alberta of La Plata, MO, Margie Kittle Mullins and husband Bob of Gibbs, MO and Norma Kittle, a resident of Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, two grandchildren, Debra Knotts Malavolti and husband Allen of Marceline, MO and Gary R. Knotts Jr. and wife Nancy of Kirksville, MO; two step grandsons, Michael Jones and wife Katie of Kaneohe, Hawaii and Devin Mullins and wife Lisa of Grapevine, TX; two great granddaughters, Jasmine and Jessica Malavolti, and two step great grandsons, Damon Jones and Jeremy Mullins. Several Nieces and nephew also survive her.
Waneta lived all her life in the La Plata and Gibbs communities. From 1944 to 1949 she was postmaster at Gibbs. She and her husband, Jesse, farmed and were in the poultry business near Gibbs. Waneta also had been a nurse's aid at the La Plata Nursing Home and a housekeeper at the University Residence.
She was a lifelong member of the La Plata Methodist Church.
