...Funeral services for Guy Emerson Nihiser, 75, formerly of La Plata, were held Friday afternoon (May 11, 1979) at 1 o'clock in the Pollock Funeral Chapel in La Plata. The Rev. Orville Shriver of La Plata conducted the services. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
...Mr. Nihiser died at 1 o'clock in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, Iowa where he had been a patient only a short time. Death was unexpected and attributed to an apparent heart attack.
...The son of Lewis A. and Lillie Midler Nihiser, he was born Dec. 21, 1903 in Dalton City, Ill. On Dec. 25, 1929 in La Plata, he married Josephine Shouse who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gene Lewis Nihiser of Green Castle and Gary Wayne Nihiser of Exline, Iowa; two grandchildren, Teresa Nihiser and Lewis Nihiser and three sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Faye) Mitchell, Grace Cribb and Mrs. Jesse (Waneta) Kittle, all of La Plata.
...He was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Evans in 1969.
...He was a member of the Methodist Church.
...Bearers were Mike Daniels, Lawrence Mitchell, Lloyd Cribb, George Cribb, Thomas Hardy, Dale Hall and Gary Knotts.
