Mrs. Margaret R. Gurley, 63, President of the Gurley Music Co., Inc., until six months ago, died June 5,1953, at her home, 55 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. She had been ill for several months but her death was unexpected.
Mrs. Gurley succeeded her husband, Clarence A. Gurley, as president of the music store upon his death in 1947.
She was well known in local and area musical circles and in years past had been member of the choirs of St. Steven's Episcopal Church, New Hartford and New Hartford Baptist Church.
She was born Sept. 6,1889 in Utica, daughter of Ernst and Mary Sittig Reusswig. She attended Utica schools. She and Mr. Gurley were married in 1912.
Mrs. Gurley was a communicate of St. Stevens Church and a member of St. Martha's Guild, the B-Sharp Club and the Kings Daughter of the Moravian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Stuart Cook, New Hartford; Mrs. Charles Bundy, Kent, OH.; and Mrs. Donald Munde, Utica; and three sons, Robert and William, New Hartford and John Gurley, Utica; a brother, A. J. Reusswig, Utica a sister, Mrs. Herbert B. Johnson, Mount Airy, N.C.; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
