Milly's father was a carpenter. She was born in Kansas during a family visit, but was raised in Lebanon, Boone Co., Indiana. Milly worked at various factory jobs and was about 30 years old when she was united to Dr. Leon Zerfas they had five children and lived in Merom, Indiana. After 11 years then they separated and she and the children moved to California. There she worked as a cab driver in San Diego and was very active in the community with civil rights, anti-Vietnam war, she got married to Walter Whitely Siegel Jan. 19, 1957 in San Diego. Then her son John Zerfas got polio, and after more than 3 years he passed away at 18 in 1964. She was also very active in protest marches for women's rights, and she cared greatly about the environment and would not use paper towels to save the trees, and not use aerosols to protect the ozone way back in the 70s. She supported Cesar Chavez in boycotting grapes and other vegetable products. She and Walt then moved to Mexico and lived on their boat he built in their front yard called the Zerfy. He passed away in 1977, years she later then married and or common law to Jack Florer in 1983, and they traveled the world. She died of head injuries as result of a car accident in 1992.
