"Fairfield Ledger", May 22, 1930, Pg. 1, Col. 6

MRS. STEVER, 95, DIED LAST NIGHT. Former Fairfield woman was an Outstanding Character. Mrs. Juliet H. STEVER, for years a resident of California, but who never lost her contact with Fairfield and who had many friends here, died last night in Los Angeles, according to a telegram to the "Ledger" from G. E. AVERILL. Funeral services will be held in Los Angeles Friday. Mrs. STEVER, who was 95 years of age, was the widow of George STEVER, both well known to the older generation of this city. Mr. STEVER was a member of the well known firm of WELLS, STEVER and AVERILL, doing business on the east side of the square. The STEVER home was just west of the HAMMOND home on East Burlington Street.

Mrs. STEVER was a school teacher and for a time was connected with Mrs. John AVERILL's private school, located where the Rollin F. WILSON home on South Main Street now stands. After her husband's death she went to California. That was almost 40 years ago. She was the principal of Belmont Hall in Los Angeles for two years and then went to Occidental College to teach mathematics. After seven years there she taught in the Japanese night school for eight years.

One of her greatest interests was her class in the Immanuel Presbyterian Sunday School where she taught for 25 years. The "Ledger" has printed a number of her interesting letters to friends here, and a few years ago when the apartment where she lived caught fire, recounted the fact that she coolly directed the fireman who was carrying her out to go past the bath room so she could get her false teeth.

--------
Note: Of the seven children of George and Juliet Stever, all but one died young. Three of the young children are accounted for (see links) and are buried near their father George. The other two young children are not specified with a burial location. Dr. Mortimer F Stever was the only child who grew to manhood and moved to Creston in Union County, Iowa to live and is buried at.
