Bio

I have always been interested in my family history and remember asking my Grandmother about her life when I was young. I have been researching my family history in Australia and beyond for more than twenty years. I have English, Irish and Scottish heritage. I am working towards writing up the stories of my ancestors and am passionate about the importance of preserving family and local history and telling our stories to connect with the past.

I work as a librarian in a regional public library managing local and family history services: a diverse role which includes collection work, programming, presentations, community engagement and helping people with their research queries. In 2012 I was awarded a scholarship to visit libraries and archives in the UK and USA where I also attended "Who Do You Think You Are Live" and "Rootstech 2013". I am the convenor of Public Libraries Victoria Special Interest Group for Local Studies colleagues.

I have been a long time community volunteer with the Kilmore Historical Society and more recently with the Eltham District Historical Society helping to manage their collection and write stories for their bi-monthly newsletter and website.

I am a member of the Genealogical Society of Victoria and the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

I have also been a longtime subscriber to Ancestry.com, Find My Past and British Newspapers Archive.

I am a passionate advocate of the National Library of Australia's Trove platform and regularly create and add to lists and give back by correcting text on the digitised newspapers.

I also am interested in genetic genealogy, using DNA to further expand my family hisotry and connections.
