Lydia S. Burgess was born January 10, 1856, in Perry County, Ohio. Death came at the family home near Oak Hill, north of Houston, October 15, 1942; making her age at death 86 years, 9 months and 5 days. She moved with her parents to Clinton, Mo., when fourteen years of age. Was converted at a Methodist camp meeting the same year and has lived a consecrated christian life to the time of being called to her home in Heaven.
March 28, 1880, Miss Burgess was united in marriage to Chas. M. Cole. To this union were born eight children, three of the children preceding her in death. She is survived by her husband and five children, 23 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one sister in Oklahoma City; and friends innumerable. Mrs. Cole was a kindly, friendly woman and was beloved by her neighbors. Many friends will join with the Herald in earnest sympathy to the bereaved relatives, especially with the sorrowing husband, with whom she has been a very dear companion for sixty-two years. This aged husband will be lonely, but he has comfort in the knowledge that he will join his beloved companion in the home where there are no more partings.
Funeral services were held at Oak Hill Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. J. Carty, assisted by Rev. Culpepper. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery under direction of the Elliott Funeral Home.
