From the best research we could find, Karl Spilker and his siblings--Ernest Spilker and Wilhelmine Spilker--were the children of Friedrich Wilhelm Spilker and Mary Caroline Grummert of Blasheim, Germany. All three siblings married children of Fred and Charlotte Schlake--Sadie, Lizzie, and Fred. There are a vast number of double cousins due to these marriages.
We assume that the parents remained in Germany, but are most likely related to the Spilker families who came from Blasheim to the northern Gage County area, and probably the Grummert families of Plymouth.

From the book “The Family of Friedrich Schlake and Charlotte Jaeger of Engershausen, Westfalen and Gage County, Nebraska” edited by Diane Young Decker in 2001.
