Life is good! The church is true! Anyone who knows Brent knows that this is his vision of life. Brent expressed his last farewell to one of his two sons early Thursday morning, May 27, 2004, after finishing a difficult struggle with several long-term, health problems.

He died at the home of his parents being surrounded by many of his family members.

Brent loved life and his sons Dustin Brent Herbert, and Jamie (J.D.) Duane Herbert, and his grandson, Jaiven Brent Herbert, of American Fork. No one could light up Brent like Jaiven. He is the light of his grandpa's eyes. Jaiven loved showing his grandpa his big muscles and hearing him sing "How much is that doggy in the window." Brent married Linda Eaton of Vernal Utah. They later divorced. Brent is very grateful to his parents Duane Barlow Herbert and Carol Boley Herbert, of Orem, for their loving guidance and unfailing support to the very end. Thanks Mom and Dad. I've made it Dad!

Brent was surrounded by a "lively" group of siblings who continually joked, loved and supported each other through thick and thin. He has two brothers, Gary Richard Herbert and his wife Jeanette Snelson of Orem. And Tom Barlow Herbert and his wife Karina Sanchez of Orem. He also has four sisters, Connie Herbert Ault and her husband Steve Ault of American Fork, Linda Herbert of Orem, Susan Herbert Carlson and her husband Curtis Carlson, of Orem and Holly Herbert, of Orem. And many nieces and nephews. We will always have the great memories of a life shared, and look forward to the day of our reunion.

Brent lived his life for the service of others. He was very devoted to his work as a member locator missionary. And loved attending the temple often. He also had another family, his ward family. They meant the world to him. He loved them. Many have told us that he would quietly go behind the scenes to help those around him. Brent knows how they have supported him with actions and prayers especially during his last six months and would like us to express his gratitude.

Brent and his family would like to express gratitude to all of the Doctors and medical people who have helped us at Timpanogos Regional Hospital, and others serving his health care needs.

A special thank you to his sister Holly who works at Timpanogos Regional Hospital and Dr. Sean Curzon and the staff at Timpanogos Hospital for their service and kindness shown to us during our association with them. You have treated us like family.

Through our sadness and tears of our separation we also have feelings of peace and joy for the memories we have of Brent and our time shared together. At this time he would tell us to smile, and be happy. And that "Life is great! The church is true!" We love you, Brent. Thanks for the memories.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1st, in the American Fork 24th Ward Chapel, 975 North 60 East, American Fork. Interment was in the Orem City Cemetery.
