Mary (Prentiss) Wells, 2nd wife of Henry Wells, and Thomas M. Prentiss, who are both on the same headstone, are sister and brother. They are the children of Henry & Caroline H. (Staniford) Prentiss.

Death of Mrs. Henry Wells.

Mrs. Mary Prentiss Wells died sud­denly at the Tudor, Boston, Mass., Sat­urday, March 28, 1908, in the seventy ninth year of her age. She was born at Glouncester, Mass., August 27, 1829, and was married in Boston, April 25, 1861, to Henry Wells, one of the found­ers of the Wells-Fargo and American Express companies and a business man of wide reputation in his day, who also founded Wells college at Aurora. Mrs. Wells spent twenty years of mar­ried life in New York city and Aurora on Cayuga lake, resided 18 years in Skaneatelee and spent the last nine years in Boston, where the early years of her life were passed. She had been a widow many years and is survived by one brother, Thomas M. Prentiss of this village.
