Mrs. Grace Anthony, who spent the last 17 years confined to a wheel chair, refused to let her ill-ness overcome her and insisted upon living a normal life. Mrs. Anthony was a devoted wife and mother. She would never let the house go uncleaned or a meal go uncooked. Unable to walk, she performed her home duties in a wheelchair without complaint
Mrs. Anthony came to Jersey City from Italy at the age of five. She married Vincent Anthony in 1940 and they had two sons, Michael 19 and Vincent Jr. 16. She was struck with paralysis in 1944 due to an inoperable spinal tumor. This was four months before the birth of her second son. Although her health suffered severely, she would not let it affect her personality. She remained the smiling, happy, pleasant woman she was before. If anything changed, it was an increased determination she developed to fulfill her wifely and motherly chores. And she did so, without complaining.
MRS. ANTHONY died Tuesday at the Medical Center at the age of 40. The funeral was today from the Intracaso-Angelo Funeral Home, Jersey City, followed by a solemn high requiem mass at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
