Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, RKay Mower, peacefully went to Heaven while surrounded by his loving family on October 21, 2011 at the age of eighty-six.

He was born September 1, 1925 to Marion and Betsy Mower in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Constance H.M. Barrett, later divorced; married LaRieta Freeman, later divorced.

He was honored to serve in the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge and later in the U.S. Air Force in World War II.

He was a decorated veteran and was chosen to be one of 11 honorees at the University of Utah's Commemoration Ceremony for Veterans on November 11, 2011.

He served with love and pride to provide freedom for all of us. He fought for all of the important values that have helped shape this great nation, its people, and the world.

He did his part in protecting the life of America and the human experience and we are honored and so proud of him for making that sacrifice. He was simply the bravest of the brave.

Our Daddy will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and fabulous jokes, but most of all his kind, tender heart and his desire to serve others. Lover of all sports, he was also an avid fisherman and never let the big one get away.

Dad is our very own hero forever, a remarkable, extraordinary man who embraced life. He was an amazing teacher and priceless example for all that is good, especially to his family.

He was the world's best grandpa and absolutely adored by every one of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We have been honored and blessed to have him as our father. There are no words to express how much he will be missed in every way.

As a young man, Dad was able to visualize and create his resort, Shady Lake, that he was so proud of. It was a sanctuary of Weeping Willows and natural spring lake which provided the perfect setting for bringing people together.

Survived by his four daughters, Shawna (Ronald) Blackhurst, Tamara Johnson, Ronda (Tom) O'Leary, and Lana (Rodney) Davis; as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Butler Twentieth Ward Chapel, 1356 East 7200 South. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on the day of the services at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
