Afton Blair Cameron, our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 24, 2011 in Salt Lake City, UT at the age of eighty-eight.

Afton was born February 9, 1923 to Esmond and Cleora Blair. She grew up in Garfield, Utah during the great depression along with her sisters Connie, and Ruth and later they all attended and graduated from Cyprus High School.

In 1942, she married Wallace "Bud" Cameron and together they raised two sons, Bruce, and Guy. She worked as a "type setter" during the war and at several additional times throughout her life. In 1958, she gave birth to her oldest son Bruce and at that time she decided to quit work to become a full-time mom and raise her family.

In 1959, she and Bud moved to "Copper Hill Heights" (now part of West Valley City), where they lived for the rest of their lives. She remained a full-time mom until approximately 1975 when she resumed work as a type setter for a local news paper; The Magna Times. She remained at the Times and was later promoted to Editor of the paper in 1977.

While her son Guy was attending Cyprus High School, she would often employ he and a few of his friends as sports photographers giving them assignments to photograph football games, basketball games, track meets, and baseball games, etc. as she needed photographs for the next addition of the Times.

Afton was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Bud Cameron and her sister Connie Wall. She is survived by her sister Ruth Hall, her two sons Bruce and Guy (Sheryl), and six grandchildren Sonia, Chad, Andria, Jacob, Kimberley, and Samantha.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the Hunter Ninth Ward Chapel, 3450 South 6400 West, West Valley City. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, and 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
