Bertha Dean Davies, 96, of Syracuse, died on Wednesday at Loretto. She retired in 1984 from the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. Mrs. Davies was a member and past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth, Syracuse Court 35 and a member of Bethlehem Shrine No. 2 NY Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Longtime member of the Syracuse Women's Bowling Association, she was a 35-year delegate to State and National Bowling Congresses. In 1987, she was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame for her years of loyalty, dedication and support of the SWBA. Mrs. Davies was predeceased by her husband, John T. Davies on May 22, 1985; by her daughter, Beverly J. Dunham in 2001; her son-in-law, Donald A. Dunham in 2007; her great-grandson, Peter LaDuke in 2008 and her grandson-in-law, James Allen in 2007. Surviving are her sister, Shirley Frazier of Baldwinsville; her grandchildren, Donald J. (Stephanie) Dunham of Cicero and Deborah J. Deby Allen of Oneida; great-grandchildren, Katie Dunham, MD, David Dunham, Adam (Ginny) LaDuke and J.R. Allen; a great-great-granddaughter, Bailey Joy LaDuke and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home with entombment following in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Donations may be made to the SPCA, 5878 East Molloy Road, Mattydale, NY 13211.
