Burial for Stephen Emmett McPartlin, 74, a pioneer in the field of refrigeration insulation, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lake Forest, after services at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Athanasius Church, Evanston. Mr. McPartlin, who died Friday, was the founder and president of the Union Insulating Co. and a member of the original board of directors of the Celotex Co. He lived at 928 Sherman Ave., Evanston. He leaves his widow, Anne; a daughter, Mary Louise, and three sons, Stephen Emmett, Jr., John Joseph and the Rev. Richard J.

Stephen Emmett McPartlin, 74, a former resident of this city, died Friday morning in the Evanston, Ill., St. Francis Hospital. He had been ill at his Evanston home since his retirement two years ago. Mr. McPartlin, a pioneer in the field of refrigeration insulation, was born in Oshkosh in 1874. After serving as sales manager of the Union Fiber Company, Winona, Minn., he became the founder and president of the Union Insulating Company, Chicago. He was a member of the original board of directors in the Celotex Company; a charter member of the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers; member of Salmagundi Club of New York City; member of Jamaica Bay Yacht Club, life member of the Art Institute of Chicago, and titular member of the Association Internationale Du Froid, of Paris. Surviving Mr. McPartlin are his wife, the former Anne McGoorty; a daughter, Mary Louise McPartlin, Kansas City, Mo.; three sons, S. E. McPartlin Jr., Evanston, John J. McPartlin, Lake Forest, Ill., and Richard J. McPartlin, West Baden Springs College, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Neil Duffy, Appleton. Two brothers living in Oshkosh also survive. Henry and Walter. One latter a patient at Sunnyview Sanatorium. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at St. Athanasius Church, Evanston. Friends may call at the Fitzgerald & Karsten Funeral Home, 1573 Maple Avenue, Evanston, until the time of services Monday.
