David Schlenker, son of Christian and Rosina Schlenker, was born on Jan. 31. 1876 in South Russia. He came to U. S. in 1894 and settled in
Kulm.
David and Barbara Heidinger were married in Oct. 1901. Barbara was the daughter of John Heidinger and was born Mar. 27, 1877 in Bessarabia, South Russia and came to U. S. in 1898. Mr. & Mrs. David Schlenker took up a homestead five miles west of Jud, later moving to Gackle, where he was a drayman and also hauled mail to Alfred, Jud and Edgeley by team.
He then moved back to his homestead and lived there until 1930 when they retired and moved to Alfred.
They were members of the Congregational Church and Mrs. Schlenker was a member of the Ladies Aid. They were blessed with four children, Katherine (Mrs. J. P. Herrmann), Anna (Mrs. Wm. Kuhn) both of Alfred, Arthur of Jud and Ogla (Mrs. Balzer Kleingartner, deceased). Mrs. Schlenker died June 8, 1948 and Mr. Schlenker died Jan. 11, 1950. They are buried at Alfred N. Dak.
