Dallett Hemphill of West Chester

Dallett Hemphill, 74, of West Chester, died Monday, November 2, 1998, at his
home. He was the husband of Ann Cornwell Hemphill.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late John Mickle Hemphill and Ann
Price Renwick.

He was a lifelong resident of West Chester.

He graduated from St. George's School, Newport, R.I., the University of
Pennsylvania and the Law school of the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a practicing attorney, the last in an unbroken line of members of his
family in (the)Bar of Chester County since 1790.

He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar
Association, and the Chester County Bar Association. He was a former member of
the West Chester Borough Council in the 1970's.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Phebe Hemphill of
West Chester, Amy H. Dove of Lebanon, Dolly Hemphill of New York and Catharine
D. Hemphill of Frederick, Md; a sister Dolly H. Frisch of Greenwich, Conn.; and
two granddaughters.

Funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 525
Plymouth Road, Suite 315, Plymouth Meeting Pa., 19462 or to the Brandywine
Hospital Foundation, Inc., 201 Reeceville Road, Coatesville, Pa. 19320.

Arrangements are being handled by Founds Funeral Home, West Chester."

I met Dallet in 1994 and he took me to or met me at the library of the Chester County, Historical Society.

Dallett was an attorney, and was well loved by his entire family and many others. He kept fit by playing tennis, among other things. He is very much missed by all.
