DEATH OF MARY JOY

We sadly announce that Miss Mary Joy, who has been lingering for the last several months on a bed of painful sickness, has at last passed peacefully away, death occuring at 4 o'clock Wednesday morning, May 18, 1887; and sadly as we miss her, and dearly as she was loved, and dear as life's happiness and innocent pleasures were to her, she is now free from all human woe and suffering.

Born at Albion, California, September 5, 1873, and barely 13 years old. In age, indeed, a mere child, but in deportment and true womanly bearing, without a superior. Gentle, lovely, and affectionate, yet, even during her painful illness, a hopeful angel of joyous glee.

She was taken sick last November with a severe spell of pleurisy. Afterward her ailment brought upon her an attack of typhoid fever, from which she lingered on her sick bed till death terminated her suffering. She was even hopeful that she would recover till a short time before she died. She was buried Thursday at the cemetery at Claquato. To her many sorrowing relatives we extend our sincerest sympathy.

"The flowers of May are blossoming
But one has faded from sight,
Yet angel voices welcoming --
She dwells in a land more bright.
Though we'll never meet her here again,
We are glad to know she's free from pain."
