Mr. Heisel came with his parents to Brunswick in infancy, and all his life has been spent here. In 1880 he was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Sasse, and of this union two children, Louis W. and Lillian, were born. Both survive him and live in Brunswick. Mrs. Heisel departed this life in January, 1901, and the following year Mr. Heisel was united in marriage to Miss Phillipena Sasse, a cousin to his first wife, who survives him.
Early in life Mr. Heisel became a member of the Lutheran church, and lived an honored and valued member of that church till his death. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows, Maccabees and Modern Brotherhood of America, and each of these fraturnities will hold in cherished rememberance his pleasant and useful associations with them.
Everybody in Brunswick and in the country for miles around knew Will Heisel and knew him well. They had known him in infancy, in boyhood and in manhood. His life was as an open book to our people and his face one of the most familiar on our streets. His open, frank dispositior, his cheering smile and hearty hand-clasp made friends for him by the hundred, and by his straightforward and manly conduct in business and social life he won and wore the title of a true gentleman.
Chief in Mr. Heisel's characteriatics was his deep regard for the general good and welfare of the town and community. When a matter of improvement, enterprise or advancement for the town arose, he was among the first to lend encouragement and financial assistance. He was liberal with his means, charitable to the needy, attentive and helpful to all.
The death of Will Heisel takes from our community a citizen of worth and integrity, a man who will be sadly missed by all. He leaves, besides a wife, son and daughter, an aged father, upon whom the blow falls heavily indeed. He has the deepest sympathy of everyone, having lost so faithful a companion in his declining years.
