CIVIL WAR VET DIES
David Stevens Had Been an Invalid for Three Years
Special to the Gazette: Clements, Nov. 2--David V. Stevens, 87-year-old Civil war veteran, is dead at his home south of this place. Three and a half years ago at the time of the death of Mrs. Stevens, he was also critically ill and his physicians reported he would not live but a few days. The funeral of Mrs. Stevens was delayed two weeks by relatives as it was expected a double funeral would be necessary. For the past three and a half years, Mr. Stevens has been helpless. He served in the Civil war in the 119th, Iowa infantry. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Dora Stevens and Mrs. Maude Wagner, both of this county. The Stevens family had lived on the farm here 30 years.
