Daughter of Col. Thomas Ward and Mildred (Walden) Ward.

Mildred was the mother of 15 children, of which 11 are known. Two sets of twins died shortly after birth and were not named.

Her children's birth dates from the Family Bible.

Mildred had a gravestone at one time. After the cemetery was destroyed in 1925, her granddaughter Mildred Lee (McKendree) Henderson (daughter of Irene Octavia (McComas) McKendree) found the gravestone in 1927 and took it home with her to St Albans, WV.
