Jon Peter “J.P.” Jarvi, of Anaheim, CA, died on Saturday, December 27, 2003, near a busy Mexican highway that emptied into the border crossing at Tecate, Mexico. It was the day after his 45th birthday.
J.P. is survived by his mother, Betty Jarvi (Anaheim, CA); and brother, Jeff Jarvi.
He was a pilot and flew small planes all around the country. He became a popular announcer for a traveling air show known as Team America. Later, he made a living making custom jewelry.
Jarvi made friends easily. Sometimes too easily, according to his mother. He thought he was getting into a can’t-lose investment opportunity when he mortgaged his condo for $50,000 and gave the cash to his new friend, Skylar Deleon.
On the morning of December 27, 2003, Jarvi leaves his mother’s home after telling her he has an exciting business deal in the works. He says he is going with a friend to Mexico to seal the deal.
He was never seen alive again after he left on his trip to Mexico with Deleon. His body was found in the early evening on that same day, near a highway a few miles from Tecate, Mexico.
