"Lena was Indian according to her race on the census taken on April 27th 1910. She was full blooded Chickasaw Indian. They were living in Tishomingo, Johnston, OK on Neshoba Avenue at the time.
An obituary ran on Thursday, January 19th 1989 in the Capital-Democrat reads:
THOMAS
Funeral services for Selena Isabelle THOMAS, 98, of 408 W. 8th in Tishomingo, were conducted last Monday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian-Christian Church with Rev. Fred HINKLE officiating. Interment was in Tishomingo City Cemetery under the direction of Richard Smith Funeral Home. Music was arranged by Dorothy BECK.
Mrs. THOMAS was born March 12, 1890 in Indian Territory to Thomas Benjamin THOMPSON and Isabelle GARDNER, and died January 12 in Boise, Idaho.
Reared in Durant, she lived her lifetime in Johnston County and Oklahoma except for a short time in Idaho. She attended Armstrong Academy of the Chickasaw Nation, was a retired county clerk office employee in Johnston County, and was a member of the Presbyterian-Christian church.
She married Ludie THOMAS March 9, 1908 in Emet. He preceded her in death in 1932.
Survivors include one son, Durwood of Tishomingo; one daughter, Dorothy POWELL of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, T. B. THOMPSON of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, TeAta FISHER,( M# 125781769) also of Oklahoma City; and Avis FIFIELD of Moore.(M#I7881932)
Pallbearers were Howard E. JOHNSON, Sandy NORTHCUTT, Stan REED, Glenn HULL, Jim KENNEDY, and Woodrow COX."
