Johnny William Wells, 91, of Tyler, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Tyler.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1923, in Fort Worth to the late John Wells and Ruby Jean Bicknell.
He retired from Orkin and Terminix after 50 years of service. He retired from TISD as a bus driver for more than 15 years. He had been a member of the Friendly Baptist Church for 45 years. Johnny served as a rifleman in the 60th Infantry of U.S. Army and was decorated with numerous badges and medals including the Purple Heart in the European Theater in World War II. Johnny was also a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree. His passions were creating music CD's and playing 42 with his buddies.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Wells, of Tyler; son Brett Wells and wife Cathy; daughter, Brenda Wells; sister, Beverly White and husband Noah White; grandchildren, Robin Henry, Michael Henry, Matthew Grice, Charlotte Freeman and husband James Freeman, Britni Waggoner and husband Chance Waggoner, Dawson Wallace and wife Jessi Wallace; great-grandchildren, Jacob Henry, Benjamen Henry, Jamie Freeman, Luke Waggoner, Mallori Waggoner, Wyatt Wallace and Blake Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, April Grice; brother, Bicknell Wells and his wife Glenna Wells; sister, Josephine Brown and her husband Jack Brown.

Pallbearers will be Michael Henry, Chance Waggoner, David Gilleland, Darrell Brown, Casey Wimberly and O.D. Fisher.
