Marie was likely born as Mary Tucek, as she was also known by Mary, but not as much as she was called Marie.

Marie was born to Jacub Tucek and Anna Tuckova, nee Lukesova in Sedlecko, Bohemia. I believe this is the correct birth date, though her obituary in the newspaper stated the year as 1873, and so does her gravestone.

She had several siblings, brothers, I believe were Frank, Vence and Kuba as well as one sister, Frances married name of Koch. Frank had 1 son and four daughters. Vence had two sons and two daughters. Frances Koch had two daughters.

She married Severin Krejci on January 8th, 1895. They lived in Bohemia for the first few years of their marriage. The first four children, Verna, Mary, Frank, and Joseph were born there. I found a document showing Marie, Verna, Frank and Joseph coming over on a ship together. Joseph was 6 months of age. He died before his second birthday.

After they arrived in Nebraska, Frances, Joseph Albert., Anne, Henry and Beatrice were born.

Granddaughter Jackie Krejci remembers her grandmother Marie making wonderful Kolaches and potato dumpings.

She also remembers when her Grandmother was milking a cow, and suddenly squirted her with the milk! Jackie was startled, but her Grandmother laughed, thinking it was so funny.

Jackie believes that her Grandmother never learned to speak much, if any, English.

Her obituary says they made their home on the West side of Plattsmouth, which was called Bohemian town or "Bohunk" town. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

It is believed she died of complications of diabetes and cancer. An article I have from the Plattsmouth Journal, Thursday, April 2, 1942 states that Mrs. S. Krejci, who has been ill for a great many months in and in the last week very critical, died this afternoon at 2:30 at the family home in the west part of the city. Since Friday, she has gradually been sinking, and members of the family were called to her side Sunday.

Her obituary calls her Mary, and is as follows: (from the Plattsmouth Journal, I believe)

This morning at the Holy Rosary church in the west part of the city, was held the last rites for Mrs. Mary Krejci, old resident of the community. The church was filled with old friends and neighbors with whom the departed had long been associated.

The requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Joseph R. Sinkula, pastor of the church, bringing the blessings of the church on the departed and the bereaved family.

The choir of the church assisted in the singing of the mass. At the close of the service, the body was borne to the last resting place in the Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were old time friends of the family, James Sedlak, Ferdinand Duda, James Holy, Sr., John Zatopek, Frank Swoboda and John Matousek.

The Sattler funeral home had charge of the funeral arrangements and burial.
