Passed away in the early morning of Feb 9,2015

She was the Librarian Library (Media Specialist)at Payson Junior High. She will be missed by so many.

Lu Ann Brobst Staheli was born April 27, 1954 to Robert Brobst and Helen Marie Hefner Brobst in Alexandria, Indiana, she was the youngest of four children.

Lu Ann was an avid reader as a child and because of her love for reading she became a teacher an author and a mentor. She taught school at Payson Junior High School for 33 years she influenced directly over 6000 students during that time, she became the school librarian two years ago. To quote her it was her dream job to be surrounded by books, by children who loved books and by children who hadn't realized how much they could love books. She was always a staunch advocate for her students, it was said of her, if you have a problem with the student give Mrs. Staheli five minutes and she will tell you what the students reading level is and how to help the student learn how to love to read. Lu Ann was also a very gifted writer, she wrote and published 13 different books, this multi talented lady wrote for the young adult, middle grade, educational and romance genres. She wrote a weekly article in her local newspaper regarding literacy reading and book reviews to help children to learn to love to read. Lu Ann was also a professional editor who worked on publications that appear on the New York Times bestseller list as well as USA today and other LDS book bestsellers. It was said by one of her peers that she was one of the best that they had ever worked with. She was also the recipient of many writing awards. She received Best of State twice for two of her publications, she was a recipient of the League of Utah Writers Golden Quill Award, she was also president of the League of Utah Writers. She also received numerous educational awards, the Christa McCullough Fellowship, National Board of Education, the Utah Best of State for best teacher K-12 Nebo school district English teacher of the year she was English department head for Payson Junior High School for over 15 years.

But most importantly she was a mother to five wonderful sons. Each one of them coming at just the right time that God wanted them together.

She married her sweetheart Michael Douglass Staheli December 17, 1994 in Glendora, California he adored her for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband; sons, previously mentioned, and brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Brobst and sister, Sue Blake.

Funeral Services for Lu Ann will be held Thursday, February 12th, at 12:00 noon, at Spanish Fork South Stake Center, 820 East Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah, where a Visitation will be held prior form 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

Interment in Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.
