Neal Funeral Held. l
Last Sad Rites Over the Remains of Aged Lady Occurred Monday Afternoon.

The funeral services over the remains of the late Clarenda Overton Neal took place Monday afternoon from the residence at 518 West Fifth street. Rev. A. K. Byrns of the First M. E. church officiated.
Interment was made in the City cemetery.

Mrs. Clarenda Neal died at her home in Beardstown Illinois at 9 o'clock on November 15, 1913, at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 15 days.

Clarenda Overton was born at Petersburg, Menard county, Ill., March 31, 1858. She grew to womanhood in this community where she was born and was married Sept. 7, 1869 to Jacob A. Neal at Mason City, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Neal made their home first at Kilbourne, Ill., living there about ten years and coming from there to Beardstown about the year 1879, since which time this city has been the home of the family.
Mr. Neal departed this life April 29, 1895.

Mrs. Neal was the mother of seven children three of whom died in in fancy. She is survived by
four children who are
Mrs. George W. Druell of Chitwood, Mo.,
J. H. Neal of Galva, Ill.,
Richard Neal
and Mrs. May Perkins of Beardstown, Ill.
She also leaves to mourn her loss
a brother,
Nathan Overton of Beardstown, who made his home with her for the past two years,
and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dare of Havana, Ill.
She also leaves thirteen grandchildren.

The deceased was industrious and a hard worker, always faithful to her home and family. She was very independent and refused all entreaties of her children to allow them to provide for her. She often worked harder than they wanted her to that she might care for her own needs. Her work seemed to have been done in the world as she had cared for her children until all were married and gone, so she passed quietly from earth's activities and left her loved ones to gather up and keep in sacred memory the good deeds of her life.
