GIRL'S BODY FOUND IN SUITCASE'
West Alton, MO (AP) The body of a girl estimated to be about two-years-old was found today in a weighted suitcase cast into a slough in West Alton.

The suitcase was found about 50 yards off U.S. 67 near the south end of the Lewis and Clark Bridge over the Mississippi river.

The suitcase was bound with rope, and weighted with barbells, used for exercising.

The suitcase was found by Jack Hamilton of St. Louis, a fisherman.

Hamilton said he fished the suitcase out of the water with a tree branch, opened it and found the body.

Date Found: February 1, 1968

Where Found: In a slough near the Clark Bridge on the Mississippi River near Alton, MO, in St. Charles County, MO. Located approximately 15 feet from the shore.

Age: Estimated to be about 2 years old

Race: White

Sex: Female

Description: blonde hair, scar above one eye, one abnormally large tooth

Circumstances of death: This child was located by a fisherman while he was fishing in the slough. He spotted a cheap, black suitcase in the water. The child's body was weighted inside the suitcase with two 10-pound weights. Two 10-pound weights were also secured on the outside of the suitcase with blue clothesline.

The coroner at the time stated there were no signs of violence on the child's body and she was thought to be about 2 years of age. She was buried February 7, 1968, in the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles County, Missouri. She is unknown to this day.
