Death of Hon Enoch H Rosekrans of Glen's Falls
Hon Enoch H Rosekrans died at his residence in Glen's Falls early this morning, after a lingering illness, at the age of 70 years. Judge Rosekrans studied law in this city with his uncle, Hon Samuel G Huntington; but he passed the whole of his professional life at Glen's Falls. He married a daughter of Miles Beach of Saratoga, and sister of Wm A Beach of New York. A lawyer of great shrewdness and very considerable erudition, he was twice elected justice of the supreme court, first by the American and then by the Republican party. As a judge, he was remarkable for the clearness and readiness of his perceptions. He was a man of great wit, of ready repartee, and sometimes wounded counsel who were managing causes before him by the keenness of what was intended as more humor. The bar of the district became somewhat dissatisfied with him before he left the bench, and we think mainly for this reason. Judge Rosekrans was a man of a very high order of intelligence, and remarkable at every period of his life for his elegant physical proportions and great personal beauty.
