She was born on Wednesday, May 14, 1919, in Napoleonville, Louisiana, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Paretta Ditta.
She was a strawberry farmer until age 83 and was the Strawberry Ambassador for the State of Louisiana under 5 governors. She was well known for her delicious Italian culinary delights. During her lifetime she received numerous awards and recognition for her farming, cooking, and service to others. Of all things she gave to others with great charity and love. In her standard for perfection she taught others to strive for the same.
Surviving are her daughter & son-in-law, Josie M. and Bill Louviere, adopted daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Ditta and Jimmy Wiltshire, Judy and Herbie Lotz, 9 grandchildren and their spouses, John Hodges and Monica, Reneé Blanchard and Dennis, Paul Hodges and Zach Janusa, Will Louviere and Reneé, Michael Louviere and Tania, Lisa Goings and Clay, Rebecca Lotz, Stephen Godfrey and Amy, Brittany Hastings and Ben, 17 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Bailey and Baxter Hodges, Chris, Ben and Jen Blanchard, Meghan, Jordan, and Joseph Louviere, Lena, Michael, Hannah and Adriana Louviere, Landon Goings, Blair Godfrey, Brooks and Brady Hastings.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Santo Mike, daughter, Lena M. Hodges, and brothers, Bernard, Salvadore, Loretto, and Anthony Ditta, and her sister Sarah Mike.
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond and on Friday, February 1, 2013, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 am, with Fr. Robert Merced, O.P. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery Hammond, Louisiana.
