Mr. Downey, the boy's father, is driver of the Wallace Hose Chemical. Just one week prior to his death, his brother, Edward, was injured when an auto knocked him to the pavement on Center Street. He fully recovered.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Edward Ferrier and Miss Helen Downey, both of the borough and three brothers, Morton J. Downey of New York, George Downey of Hartford and Edward of the borough.

-visitation at the house one half hour before services at Holy Trinity Church

Prayers were said by the Rev. Charles H. Kane and as the casket was being borne from the church, "Nearer My God To Thee" was played by organist, Thomas J. Cook.

Pallbearers were Edward Cox, Charles Downey, Warren Grannuci, Charles Byron, James Corcoran, all of the borough, and Louis Forcier of Meriden. The flower bearers, each carrying a small basket of choice blossoms, were John Prior, Edward Downey, Haynes Fitzgerald, John Lacey, James Boylen, Louis Bartek, Vincent Coughlin and Francis O'Connell. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

This was one of the largest attended funerals at Holy Trinity Church in some time.
