It is with more than ordinary regret that we reocrd the death of WILLIAM KNEASS, Esq. As an artist, he has been long favorably known to our community. In all the relations of life he was conspicuous for sterling integrity and the most amiable dispositiion. To the young artists in his ow line, he was a generous friend. In their success he took a warm interest, and on every occasion, to the utmost of his means, was ever ready to contribute to their success. Like all tho delight in acts of kindness, Mr. Kneass never forgot on to himself, and never failed to show his gratitude, even after long years had intervened. He received the appoinment of Engraver to the Mint from Mr. Monroe, and amid all the changes of political parties, was suffered to retain the place till his death. In that event the community has lost a valuable citizen and an honest man, and many beside ourselves a faithful friend. [Tuesday, September 1, 1840.
