Although I was raised in the Mid-Atlantic states, and I now live in Arizona, my heritage is mainly from the Southern United States: Delaware, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas. Still, one of those ancestors was "Yankee" enough to arrive on these shores on the Mayflower in 1620. Go figure! Others came as "religious refugees," either Huguenots, Quakers or Baptists, seeking freedom to worship as they saw fit. I appreciate their contributions to this "Land of the Brave."
