Researching the Skiles family in Pennsylvania and Ohio. I have traced my Skiles ancestors accurately back to Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. John G. Skiles was born in Carlisle between 1824 and 1826. He married a Sarah Jane Martin in PA about the year 1847. Their oldest child was a daughter named Mary. They had 6 other children, William Woodburn, George M, John C (my family line), Jenny, Valletta, and Burgetta. The family moved from Stoughstown, PA to Shelby, OH in about 1854.
William W and George M earned a bit of fame as attorneys in Shelby. William W was even elected to a seat in the US Congress in 1900.
I have expended alot of internet energy trying to determine the parents of John G Skiles and Sarah Jane Martin. It has proved most difficult.
If a grave transfer is requested, I ask that cemetery records not be "overwritten" by family data collections. We all come here to findagrave for the cemetery records. I ask that addition of family info be clearly delinetated as non-cemetery info.
