Mrs. Helen M. Ensign died at the home of her nephew, Albert E. Schultz, 36 West Main street, Little Falls, N. Y., Wednesday, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Ensign was formerly Miss Helen M. Logie, daughter of John Logie, formerly of this city. She was born in Chambersburg, Pa., from where she removed early in life to Elmira, where she resided many years and had a host of friends. She was twice married, her husband, Milton Pettingill, having been killed only a few months after their marriage. In later years she was married to Hoffman W. Ensign and after his death removed to Syracuse with her son Milton Pettingill. Mrs. Ensign was a practical nurse of Syracuse for a number of years and an esteemed member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, also a member of the W. C. T. U. The decedent went to reside with her nephew about four years ago and had won many friends by her Christian character and kindly disposition. Besides her nephew and family she is survived by her granddaughter (name redacted for privacy). A prayer services will be held at the Schultz home Friday evening at 7 o’clock, the Rev. Dr. Marsh officiating. The remains will arrive in Elmira Saturday at 4:48 p.m. over the Lackawanna and will be taken to Woodlawn cemetery for interment.
