Curtis A. Donath
FALLBROOK – Curtis A. Donath, a self-employed builder and designer in Fallbrook for 46 years before retiring, died June 22 at Fallbrook Hospital. He was 81.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and had lived in Fallbrook since 1933. He owned a ranch in Rainbow where he grew lemons and raised chickens and was the owner and operator of the Mission Theatre in Fallbrook from 1936 until 1954. He had designed and built many offices and homes in North County.
He was the first president of the Fallbrook Rotary Club; served on the Vallecitos School District Board and the Fallbrook High School Board; and served on the Fallbrook Sanitation Board and the Fallbrook Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia W. Donath; son David C. Donath of Kino Bay, Sonora, Mexico; daughter Barbara Donath Green of Green Valley, Ariz.; stepsons Patrick Pierce of Orleans, Calif., and Michael Pierce of Fallbrook; stepdaughter Katie Pierce Dabney of Santa Barbara; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were scheduled for 11 this morning at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery with Bill Catlin officiating.
Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
