Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Frances Downs, of Corydon, Indiana, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. Francis of Assisi, St. Francis, with the Rev.Marvin Rolfes offiiciating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Dennis Downs, Jodie Robey, John Edelen. Joseph A. Robey, Lynie Edelen and Ronnie Downs. Mrs. Downs passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Edelen, in Corydon where she had lived for three years. She had been ill about three months. A narive of St. Francis, she was the daughter of the late Hayden and Margaret Thompson Mills, and the widow of Joseph Lawrence Downs, who died June 18, 1953. After leaving St. Francis, she resided for 18 years in California, before returning to Louisville to live .
Survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Margaret Robey, of St. Francis; two sons, Francis Leon (Smiley) Downs, and Joseph Robert Downs, of Monterey Park, California; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Thompson, Louisville; 27 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren
