James Donald Davis, 81, of Mackwood Rd., Mooresville, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville. Born December 11, 1928, in Mooresville, NC, he was a son of the late Louis Finley Davis and Grace Fisher Davis.
Mr. Davis was a 1947 graduate of Mooresville High School. He was retired from United Supply Company of Charlotte having 20 years of service. Mr. Davis was a US Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mooresville. He loved sports, in particular, the UNC Tarheels, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees and Mooresville High School Football. Mr. Davis was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Decie Belk Davis, whom he married October 10, 1951; son, James Donald "Donnie" Davis, Jr. and wife, Susie, of Denver; grandchildren, Greg Davis, Mark Davis and Kayla Dellinger; sister-in-laws, Juanita Davis, Sarah Jones, Georgia Miller, Sadie Jones, and Pat Cagle and husband, Don, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, October 17, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Dr. Jerry Cloninger officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 PM, Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
