FARGO FUNERAL TO TAKE PLACE IN CITY
Funeral services will be held here Saturday for Charles M. Fargo, 90, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Springfield, and a member of the family which helped found Wells Fargo and Co. in 1852.

Mr. Fargo died Tuesday night in a Detroit nursing home.

For many years, Mr. Fargo lived in Springfield at 917 S. Fourth St., and worked in the firm's Springfield office. His retirement in 1917 came after more than 40 years service with the company and its successor, the American Express Co. Later, he resided with his daughter, Marie K. Fargo in Detroit. Mrs. Fargo died in 1929.

The body will arrive in Springfield at 10:30 a.m. today and will be taken to Thomas C. Smith Sons funeral home.

FARGO RITES SET FOR TOMORROW
The body of Charles Merrick Fargo, 90, of Detroit, Mich., a nephew of the founders of the famous Wells-Fargo Express Co., arrived in Springfield yesterday and was taken to Thomas C. Smith Sons funeral home where services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Fargo, formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday in Detroit.

He was born April 25, 1856 at Adrian, Mich., the son of Thomas B. and Lendelia Merrick Fargo. He married Mary Gertrude Redmond of Quincy.

Mr. Fargo was associated with the Wells-Fargo Express Co. for 55 years, and was an agent at Oneonta and Poughkeepsie, N.Y., before coming to Springfield as general agent with the American Express Co. He retired July 1, 1926, and went to Detroit, where he resided with his daughter, Marie K. Fargo.

He is survived by two daughters, Marie K., of Detroit, and Mrs. Frank E. Nelson, the former Grace E. Fargo, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one grandson, Fargo E. Nelson.

Pallbearers will be Sherman C. Clayton, R.S. Eubank, W.G. Bahlow, Glen D. Irving, Charles B. Gaffney and John Charles. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph H. Feltham, Will C. Vogt, Edward V. Flaherty, W.R.C. White, H.C. Miller, J.H. Newell, Robert A. Bullard and Dr. Stuart Broadwell.
