Funeral services for Rex Bottorff, 83, Harcourt were held Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Harcourt United Methodist Church. Rev. J. Paul Stevens conducted the 1:30 p.m. service. Graveside services were conducted by Acorn Lodge 601. Interment was held in the Dayton Cemetery with arrangements completed by the Carson Funeral Home in Dayton.
Mr. Borttoff passed away at his home in Harcourt Monday, Aug. 26.
During the service the congregation sang "Children of the Heavenly Father," "Sometime We'll Understand" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Maurine Elg. Caring for flowers were Mrs. Ed Rieken, Mrs. Don Stewart and Mrs. Walter Peterson. Honorary bearers were Philip Johnson, Orin Johnson, Warren Aeling, Ted Peterson, Jack Peterson and Harold Mann. Bearers were Darrell Peterson, Don Johnson, Rollie Gustafson, Kenneth Carlson, Bart Danielson and Warren Fischer.
Rex Bottorff was born on July 2, 1900 at Hedrick and attended Hedrick schools. He married Helen Carlson in 1933 at Pamona, Calif. The couple moved to the Harcourt area in 1936, where they farmed until they retired.
Rex was a member of Acorn Lodge 601 AF & AM, Stratford; York Rite Masons, Delta Chapter 51 and Calvary Commandry No. 24, both of Fort Dodge; Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of Iowa and Avon Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 504.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Louise Opheim, Stuart; Mary Thossem, Primghar; sons, Ralph Bottorff, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Dan Bottorff, Westfield, N.J.; nine grandchildren; sister, Nita Forsyth, Corvallis, Ore.
