Matthew Scott Ciganovic, age 13, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at MUSC. He was born December 18, 1988, in Lawton, Okla., the son of Denny and Kay F. Ciganovic. Matthew was a fifth grader at Charles Pinkney Elementary School and formerly attended Whitesides Elementary and Belle Hall Elementary Schools.
He had just earned his Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts, Pack 40. He enjoyed swimming, soccer and softball, and the many children who joined him. Music played a special part in his life as he learned to write songs and play instruments such as the steel drum, cymbals and recorder. He was happiest when engaging with the other children in play as he helped us learn to celebrate simple joys and the importance of sharing life with loving friends who accept and honor each other regardless of ability.
Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Kay and Denny Ciganovic. In addition, special people in his life include, Grandma Faron, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Gramma Loud, of New York, N.Y.; Uncle Jay Faron and his children, Katie and John of Winterville, N.C.; aunt, Libby Faron and uncle Ed and their children, Abby and David of Summit, N.J.; Uncle Mark and Aunt Terri Ciganovic of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Cathy Proctor and her children, Jesse and Jared and many extended family members and friends, especially those from Whitesides and Pinckney Elementary Schools.
Funeral arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Interment will be private.
Friends may call at Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel this Sunday evening, from 5 until 7 p.m.
There will be a Celebration of Matthew's Life at a later date.
