Mary Eleanor Giguere, aged 89, of Middleboro, formerly of Dorchester, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, at home, where she resided with her niece Nancy Bernier and her husband Joe, for 6 years. Mary was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Ellen Marion (Foley) Giguere. She was a member of St. Gregorys Church in Dorchester. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, and was a retired licensed practical nurse. She graduated from Robert B Brigham Hospital Training School for Attendant Nurses in 1944. She worked at several area hospitals and also did private duty nursing. She was very dedicated to her family, having given loving care to many. She also had a kind word and a smile for everyone. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late James Giguere, Patricia Owens, and Eva Kahian. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 25 in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, from 10 - 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St., Middleboro, at 11 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown would be appreciated.
