Amos L. Landis Funeral services for Amos L. Landis, 77 native of Cumberland County and veteran school teacher in the county will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock from his home in Mechanicsburg, with Rev. J. E. Rowland, pastor of j the Church of the Brethren, officiating. Mr. Landis died Wednesday night an illness of several weeks. Born in Lower Allen township, the son of the late Jacob and Rachael, he spent the early part of his life teaching in his native township land in several neighboring townships. He was a graduate of the Millersville State Normal School. After teaching twenty years, he engaged in the grain business of Bowmansdale. In 1921 he moved to Mechanicsburg and resumed school teaching. He taught for several years at New Cumberland before retiring seven years ago.He served as a justice of the peace at Bowmansdale and a school director at Mechanicsburg. Surviving are two children, Lawarnce H. of Watertown Mass., and Mrs. Mary L. Woltemate of Tamaque; four grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs, John A Coover of Mechanicsburg RD.
