David W. Dalzell, 92, of Champaign died at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Country Healthcare and Rehab Gifford.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at St. John's Cemetery, Broadlands, with the Rev. Jeff Stahl officiating.
David was born on August 22, 1930, in Broadlands, the son of William Wayne and Helen David Dalzell. He married Peggy Bolton in July 1951 in Broadlands, she survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Mark (Jacque) Dalzell of Savoy, Scott (Ruthann) Dalzell of Crystal Lake, one daughter; Lori (Rich) Wells of Bradenton, Florida, six grandchildren; Ian, Connor, Zach, Emma, Nathan, Luke and one sister; Phyllis Dalzell of Madison, WI.
He was preceded in death by one brother; Boyd and one sister; Linda.
David was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was a budget officer for the Soil Conservation Service before his retirement.
David was a member of First United Methodist Church, Champaign.
He was a member of the American Legion, Champaign. David was also a long time youth baseball coach and also was the coach for the American Legion team. He was also an avid bowler for over 60 years.
David was a lifelong Cubs fan and U of I sports fan. He and Peggy never missed any of their grandchildren's sporting events.
