(Feb 4, 2006) -- SCHMIDT, Violet M. - Peacefully, on Friday, February 3, 2006 at Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo. Violet Melinda Schmidt, formerly of RR1, New Hamburg. Violet was born 87 years ago in North Easthope township. Daughter of the late Clayton Roeder and the late Edith Roeder. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Easthope. She was the organist at St. James for 60 years, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader and a member of the E.L.W. serving on many committee's, including the 100th and 125 Anniversary celebrations. Beloved wife of the late Austin C.G. Schmidt who predeceased her November 23, 1994. Lovingly remembered by her sister Elmeta M. Roeder of Kitchener. Cherished by her godchildren, Ruth Ann Flach, Mervin Daub and William Glasser. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 1172 Henry St. in Wellesley, where family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church. Pastor Patricia Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials to St. James Lutheran Church, or to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
