Eugene "Buddy" Elrod, 80, of Bowling Green, died Dec. 29, 2009, at The Medical Center.

The Warren County native was a graduate of North Warren High School and a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church. He was a truck driver for Colonial Baking Co. and Sunbeam Baking Co. and was a farmer. He was a son of the late Euly H. Elrod and Dessie Olivia White Elrod. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Thelma Allen, Beatrice Gangloff, Geneva Watts, Betty Sue Elrod and Lula Mae Elrod; and a brother, Charles Elrod.

Funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Elrod; three sons, Steve Elrod and his wife, Jane, Greg Elrod and his wife, Melinda, and Todd Elrod and his wife, Lindsey, all of Bowling Green; a daughter, Joanne Magers and her husband, Doug, of Bowling Green; two sisters, Ruth Elrod, of Bowling Green, and Rhunell Williams, of Apple Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Jason Elrod and his wife, Amanda, Haley Elrod and Garrett Elrod, all of Oakland, and Heather Stringfield and her husband, Jason, Amanda Gregory, Kevin Magers, Zoie Elrod and Talan Elrod, all of Bowling Green; six great-grandchildren, Brentley Gregory, Ty Stringfield, Alison Magers, Todd Stringfield and Tucker Stringfield, all of Bowling Green, and Seth Elrod, of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews.
