Ruth (Lewis) Trainor
Of Burlington, VT 83, died Thursday, December 8, 2005, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, VT., surrounded by her children.

Born on October 20, 1922, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of Alice Griffin and Harold Gould Lewis. She attended Thayer Academy and graduated from Smith College in 1943. Upon graduation, she worked for IBM and trained CEOs how to utilize mainframe computers.

On July 29, 1944, she married William E. Trainor in Braintree, Mass. Her first trips to her beloved Cape Cod were in the 1920s, in the rumble seat with her sister, the 70-mile trip taking eight hours. She loved the ocean, playing cribbage and thought-provoking conversations about current events. She loved Ted Williams and the Red Sox and was delighted when the team won.

After moving to Vermont in 1998, she became interested in local politics, the campaign of Howard Dean and enjoyed using her computer skills to join organizations such as moveon.org online. She is survived by her three children: Son, Robert Trainor and his partner, Lavenia Medeiros, of Burlington; daughter Martha Day and her husband Michael also of Burlington; and daughter Susan Trainor and her husband Bill Orleans of S. Burlington. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Megan Kennedy and her husband Andrew Markle, Kate Culver and Max and Louie Orleans and her great-grandson Aiden Markle. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Bill, and her sister Elizabeth McGilvray.

A service celebrating her life will be held at the Pines Senior Community Center, 7 Aspen Drive, S. Burlington, VT. on Tuesday, December 20th at 4:00 PM. A private burial service will take place at a future date on Cape Cod. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Salvation Army or the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, Vt. 05495.
