Sandra Kay Tennant, 59, of Washington, W.Va., (New England Ridge Community), went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2011, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Sandra was born Aug. 27, 1951, at Rockport, W.Va., a daughter to the late Walter and Maxine (Vanfossen) Knight.

She worked for many years at Willows Nursing and Rehab Center of Parkersburg. She was a member of New England Baptist Church, loved to paint, adored her grandchildren, and was famous for her homemade pumpkin pies.

She is survived by her two daughters, Crystal Wheeler (Dana) and Amy Brode (Phil), both of Washington, W.Va., (New England Ridge Community); sister, Loretta Peters (Mark) of Waverly, W.Va.; brothers, Roger Knight (Judy) and Bob Knight ("Tutti"), both of Rockport, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Shaila, Joshua, Tiffane, Hunter and Ashley, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Earl Tennant, who passed away May 14, 2009.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in New England Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
