Rose A. McLain, 89, Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at Indian Meadows Nursing Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Monday, at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th St., Overland Park, KS 66204.

Rose was co-founder of McLain Bakery, founded in September, 1945. She and her husband Bill worked at the bakery before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), member of the Retail Bakers of Greater Kansas City, MO, and the Kansas Bakers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. "Bill" McLain, Sr., and granddaughter, Jaclynn S. Collett.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John W. "Jack" and Jo Ann McLain, Overland Park, KS; grandson and his wife, Michael S. and Helen McLain, Prairie Village, KS; granddaughter and her husband, Julie A. and Nick Heng, Overland Park, KS; great-granddaughter, Carrie Collett; great-grandsons, Nathan and Jonah Heng, all of Overland Park, KS.
